Koalas are native to Australia and contrary to the popular notion, they have no relation to the bear family. They are marsupials like the Kangaroos, having pouches, where the newborn develops.
They love Eucalyptus leaves and on a normal day can spend as many as 18 hours napping and resting.
With more than four-fifths of their natural habitat destroyed, they have been on the run since long. There are quite a few organizations spread across Australia, working on conservation of Koalas, trying to save these adorable animals on our planet.
This was shot in the coastal bushlands between Lorne and Apollo Bay on the famous Great Ocean Road in Victoria, regarded as one of the best places to spot Koalas in the wild.
